Asian Gateway Kolkata

The 300 acre Asian Gateway is a self contained urban environment complete with office, residential, retail, hotel and educational uses. By reconfiguring existing water bodies on the site, Studio u+a created a large lake as the organising feature around which distinct districts are formed. A canal system provides the link for shopping, smaller offices and public buildings, while a streetcar system connects all of the districts. Major corporate office towers are sited along the lakefront, while hotels are placed both at the entry to the site and on an island within the lake.
